How do I obtain permission to use the DAS-A?

RWS Life Sciences controls the distribution of the DAS-A. The instrument may not be reproduced or translated in whole or in part without the express written permission of RWS Life Sciences. Although there is no fee for using the DAS-A, permission is required. To obtain permission, please email amanda.rosett@rws.com.

Additionally, we ask users to notify us when they publish or present DAS-A data for our records.

What are the licensing fees associated with the DAS-A?

The DAS-A is available to both commercial and academic researchers without charge.

Can I modifying the questionnaire wording?

The DAS-A may not be reformatted in any way without the explicit permission and approval of Robert Morlock.

What methods can be used to administer the DAS-A?

The DAS-A was originally developed in US English and validated for paper administration. Neither the original US English nor any of the translations have been adapted for PDA, web, or IVR administration.

Additionally, we ask users to notify us when they publish or present LupusQoL data so that this information can be added to our records.

Can the questionnaire be reformatted?

The DAS-A may be reformatted (e.g., different font, boxes or blanks) to make it consistent with other instruments used in a study.

What translations are available?

The DAS-A has been translated into 15 languages for use in 16 countries through a reiterative linguistic validation process consisting of several independent translations, back translations, expert review of the back translation, local review by users, and cognitive debriefing. Visit our available translations page for a complete list and visit linguistic validation page for a description of the translation process. Existing translations can be obtained by contacting:
